A stone stairway

Steps like this were built to bring men, women and children from 'the tops' down to work in the mills in the valleys. In the winter they would often be walking in the dark.

Once you've listened to the track continue your journey.

Return to Cow Bridge and take the concrete track, up the hill ahead of you. Keep straight ahead at the end of the concrete track, where the Pennine Bridleway goes off to the left. After about 200 meters you will come to the remains of MOUNT OLIVET CHAPEL, beyond which, behind the iron railings, is its small graveyard.

Here is a good place to listen to the next track.
